The Three-Body Problem

I just finished The Three-Body Problem by Cixin Liu and oh boy. My brain turned to goo and dribbled out of my ears. In a good way, mark you. Highly recommended.

More ebooks

My first two novels, Dead Cat Bounce and Peter and Mary Have a Row, are now available as ebooks on the Kindle store. They were published quite a while ago – in 2001 and 2002, respectively – so I’m delighted to see them appear in this fancy new electric format that all the young people are so excited about. You can read their blurbs on my Books page.

Ah, memories.

Alex Coleman novels now available as ebooks

A few years ago I wrote a couple of novels under the name Alex Coleman. They’re available as ebooks on the Kindle Store now. You can read their blurbs and whatnot on my Books page.

Please buy a couple of million (of each, mind – OF EACH).

Martin Amis/Norman Mailer interview, 1991

Here’s an interesting interview with Norman Mailer, conducted by Martin Amis twenty years ago. Mailer complains that publishers only care about marketing and have no desire to nurture young writers. At least that changed for the better in subsequent years. Phew! Image quality is poor, alas. This is part one of four; links to the next part appear at the end of each clip.

They always want the writer to work for nothing

I love this rant from science fiction author Harlan Ellison. The man has a point.
